5th Grade Week Activities!!
Fifth grade is an exciting time of a child's academic career! It's that stepping stone from elementary school to the more independent middle school. We want to create wonderful memories for your 5th grader in their last days here at Welleby Elementary. To that end, we've an exciting array of events planned for 5th Grade Week!! Many great websites are available for students to use at home to strengthen their skills before the FCAT. These websites are user friendly and provide great support and enrichment in the areas of reading, math, and science. Summer Camp Comes to Welleby!!!
Welleby Elementary Summer Camp is gearing up for an adventurous summer that will be both educational and fun. We are very excited that you have selected Welleby Summer Camp. The camp will start Monday, June 10th ending Friday August 17th. Our camp hours are from 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Camp will be closed July 4th 2013.

Science ALIVE!!!
WOW!! What a fabulous Science Alive Family Night!! From the food to the presenters, everything was wonderful. Special thanks to Dr. Emily Schmitt and the students of Nova Southeastern University for working with our families and helping them to bring science alive right here at Welleby Elementary. Thank you families for coming out to be a part of this hands-on learning experience. We hope you took away great information and are now ready to try these at home. Below are all of the experiments from each of the presentations and you can do each of them at home to see if you get the same results you got in the sessions. Blobs in a Bottle: Making “lava lamps” from colored water, oil and sodium bicarbonate tables.
Cabbage Juice pH Indicator: Using red cabbage juice to determine the pH of common acids and base.
Diaper Crystal Necklace: Making necklaces using sodium polyacrylate crystals found in disposable diaper.
Sensory Sculpting: Making sculpting dough, pressing it into a brain shaped mold and exploring the body’s senses while also exploring real brain.
